Looking Beyond the HP Color Laserjet Enterprise MFP? 6 Alternatives Worth a Look

Alternatives to the HP M480f

Canon MegaTank G3270 Wireless All-in-One

The Canon MegaTank G3270 shifts from laser toner to ink tanks, targeting budget-conscious users who print high volumes of color documents. Unlike the M480f’s wired-only setup, this Canon model supports wireless connectivity, allowing easier sharing across a network. It lacks automatic duplex printing, which the M480f includes, so you must handle two-sided pages manually. The Canon also does not offer fax capabilities, focusing instead on print and scan functions. This printer is a practical choice for small offices or home users who prioritize low cost per page and wireless flexibility over enterprise-grade speed and fax features. The wired stability of the HP is replaced here by the convenience of wireless access.

Epson EcoTank ET-2800 All-in-One Printer

The Epson EcoTank ET-2800 replaces the M480f’s toner cartridges with refillable ink tanks, reducing long-term supply costs. It adds wireless connectivity, a feature absent in the wired M480f, making it easier to print from mobile devices without cables. However, it lacks automatic duplex printing and fax support, limiting its utility for busy offices that need two-sided printing or traditional faxing. The ET-2800 is designed for home offices or small workgroups that value low-cost color printing over high-speed enterprise performance. It is a solid alternative if you do not need the M480f’s fax capabilities or wired stability, preferring the flexibility of wireless printing and lower ongoing ink expenses instead.

Epson EcoTank Wireless Color All-in-One

The Epson EcoTank ET-4800 offers wireless connectivity and automatic duplex printing, features the M480f provides but via wired connection. It includes an automatic document feeder for scanning multi-page documents, similar to the M480f’s 50-sheet ADF. However, it lacks fax support, which the M480f includes as a core function. This printer is ideal for small offices that need low-cost, high-volume color printing and scanning without the hassle of toner cartridges. It is a better fit if you prioritize wireless flexibility and duplexing over faxing. The ET-4800 trades the M480f’s wired stability and fax feature for ink-tank efficiency and wireless convenience, making it suitable for environments that do not rely on traditional fax communication.

Epson EcoTank All-in-One Photo Printer

The Epson ET-8500 is designed for photo printing and versatile media handling, differing significantly from the M480f’s office-focused laser technology. It supports wireless connectivity and offers edge-to-edge color prints, which the M480f does not prioritize. This printer lacks automatic duplex printing and fax capabilities, making it less suitable for general office tasks. It is best for photographers or hobbyists who need high-quality color output on diverse media types. The M480f excels in wired stability and fast document processing, while the ET-8500 focuses on image quality and media flexibility. If your needs are centered on professional photo printing rather than high-volume office documents, this Epson model is a specialized alternative that sacrifices office features for photographic excellence.

Canon imageCLASS Duplex Color Laser Printer

The Canon imageCLASS LBP632Cdw is a dedicated color laser printer with wireless connectivity and automatic duplex printing, offering more flexibility than the M480f’s wired setup. It lacks scanning, copying, and faxing functions, requiring you to use separate devices for those tasks. This printer is ideal for users who prioritize print speed and mobile compatibility over multifunction capabilities. It is a focused tool for environments where scanning is handled elsewhere. The M480f provides all-in-one convenience, including fax and scan, while the Canon LBP632Cdw delivers fast, wireless color printing with duplexing. If you do not need integrated scanning or faxing, this Canon model offers a streamlined solution for high-volume color document printing with wireless access.

Epson EcoTank ET-4950 All-in-One Printer

The Epson EcoTank ET-4950 combines wireless connectivity with automatic duplex printing and fax support, offering more flexibility than the M480f’s wired connection. It uses ink tanks for low-cost color printing, unlike the M480f’s toner cartridges. This printer includes duplex scanning and faxing, matching the M480f’s multifunction capabilities while adding wireless convenience. It is a practical choice for offices that need faxing and color output with low ongoing costs. The ET-4950 is suitable for teams that prioritize cartridge-free convenience and wireless access over the M480f’s wired stability. It provides a balanced alternative for users who need all-in-one features, including fax and duplexing, but prefer the efficiency of ink-tank technology and wireless connectivity.
