Our top pick: Epson EcoTank ET-2800 All-in-One Printer.
How each alternative compares
Epson EcoTank Wireless Color All-in-One
This Epson model adds an automatic document feeder and fax capabilities, which the ET-2800 lacks. It supports higher volume tasks with a robust feature set for small offices. The build is slightly more compact in height, measuring 6.7 inches compared to the ET-2800's 10-inch profile. You gain multi-function convenience for scanning multiple pages at once and sending faxes directly. It retains wireless connectivity and color output. If your workflow requires handling stacks of documents or traditional faxing, this is the logical upgrade. You trade the simpler interface for advanced office tools.
Brother INKvestment Tank All-in-One Color Printer
The Brother MFC-J1205W offers a different ink system and includes Alexa compatibility for voice control. It is designed for compact spaces, with a footprint that differs in depth from the Epson. This unit supports wireless scanning and color printing, matching the core functions of the ET-2800. However, it lacks automatic duplex printing. The inclusion of smart home integration is a distinct advantage for users who prefer voice commands. It provides a budget-friendly option with included ink. Choose this if you value smart device integration and a smaller physical footprint over the EcoTank's specific ink bottle system.
Epson EcoTank ET-2400 All-in-One Printer
The Epson EcoTank ET-2400 is a lighter, more compact version of the ET-2800. It weighs only 8.6 pounds, compared to the 11.6 pounds of the reference model. It offers the same cartridge-free printing and wireless scanning capabilities. The print yields remain consistent at 4,500 black pages. The primary difference is the physical size and weight, making it easier to place on smaller desks. It retains the black color option. If you need the same low-cost ink system but want a machine that takes up less space and is easier to move, this model is the direct alternative.
Canon MegaTank G3270 Wireless All-in-One
The Canon MegaTank G3270 provides similar wireless color printing and scanning functions. It uses a tank-based ink system for low-cost printing. The unit is slightly wider and deeper than the Epson, measuring 16.4 inches in width. It lacks automatic duplex printing, which limits its use for double-sided documents. The weight is higher at 13.2 pounds. This printer is suitable for users who prefer the Canon brand or specific ink characteristics. It offers comparable color output and connectivity. If you do not require automatic two-sided printing and want a Canon ecosystem device, this is a viable option.
Brother Compact Monochrome Duplex Laser Printer
This Brother model is a monochrome laser printer, meaning it only prints in black and white. It features automatic duplex printing for efficient two-sided document handling. The build is more compact in length, measuring 14.2 inches. It supports wireless connectivity and mobile printing. The weight is higher at 15.6 pounds due to the laser mechanism. This device is ideal for users who print mostly text documents and need fast, reliable black-and-white output. It lacks color printing and a flatbed scanner. If your needs are strictly text-based and you value speed and duplexing, this laser option replaces the color inkjet.
Epson EcoTank All-in-One Photo Printer
The Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8500 is a large-format printer designed for high-quality photo output. It supports edge-to-edge printing on specialty media, which the ET-2800 does not. The unit is significantly larger, weighing 18.5 pounds and measuring 24.1 inches in length. It retains wireless connectivity and scanning functions. This model is built for photographers and crafters who need superior color accuracy and versatility with paper types. It is less suitable for standard office tasks due to its size. If you prioritize photo quality and specialty media handling over compactness and standard document printing, this is the specialized alternative.
